Bigger isn’t Always Better

Traditional transit focuses on efficiency: move the most passengers per vehicle per hour/driver/$. This typically means fixed routes with large vehicles, and it often makes good sense. However, downtown business districts, residential & work campuses, recreational & commercial parks, and logistic worksites don't always have room for the big vehicles, and riders have a range of destinations that fixed routes only approximate.

These applications are where TONY MicroTransit LSV based autonomous vehicles shine. A network of smaller, low-speed (25 mph or less), and lighter-weight shuttles offer a more efficient and economical means of transit. Autonomous capabilities (especially in controlled areas) enable flexible, efficient, and reliable services. Autonomous vehicles can “chain” together to support more passengers during peak times in crowded areas, yet take individual paths to drop-off targets. These vehicles are more “pedestrian-friendly” in crowded areas and in neighborhoods where children may play.

The Perrone portfolio of “passenger” MicroTransit LSV series vehicles, with 2, 4, or 6-seater models, are able to be driven by your onboard autonomous TONY “artificial driver.”

The Perrone “utility” series of vehicles are available with robust payload carrying capabilities to haul goods in an open bed or enclosed shell. TONY MicroTransit LSV is agnostic to the particular type of vehicle you choose for the job - you can deploy any combination of these vehicles (or any other TONY vehicle) in the same location and leverage the same maps and setup. Going further, multiple TONY MicroTransit LSV vehicles can be deployed in concert to cooperate and coordinate passenger transit or goods delivery, optimizing transit and logistics for your operation.
