PRI Hosts VIPs from Tom Tom Founders' Festival
On April 12, 2018, as part of the festivities during the Tom Tom Founders’ Festival, Perrone Robotics hosted several VIPs and local community members at its facility to demonstrate its cutting-edge technology and robotics platform that powers autonomous vehicles. While there, the participants were able to ride in Perrone's autonomous Lincoln MKZ reference vehicle on its test track in Crozet, Virginia. The demonstration consisted of two separate autonomous vehicles, the MKZ mentioned above, and Perrone's autonomous Range Rover. The two autonomous vehicles navigated their own routes on Perrone's test track along with another standard vehicle that they interacted with within a traffic light intersection on the track. A coordinated sequence of events was executed where these vehicles showcased passing maneuvers and pedestrian/obstacle avoidance. The demonstration concluded with both autonomous vehicles parking. What was interesting for the VIPs and community members was that they got a firsthand look at some of the most advanced technology of an autonomous vehicle company in an unlikely location – literally their backyard! Crozet is a small charming town, and this location enables Perrone Robotics to have their own private test track - a big differentiator for an autonomous platform company. We were pleased to show the attendees the products of relationships we have forged with some of the major players in the nascent autonomous vehicle industry, including a European premium brand and several Tier 1 suppliers to the automotive world. Additional press coverage regarding this event is available.
