Perrone Robotics Deploys V2I Solution for AVs with Jacksonville Transportation Authority

Perrone Robotics has deployed their TONY Vehicle-To-Infrastructure (V2I) Package to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). The TONY TONY V2I Package provides V2I communications for smart city applications. The package includes a Commsignia Onboard Unit integrated into Perrone Robotics’ TONY-based Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) which provides communications to a Roadside Unit connected to infrastructure such as traffic light controllers using the DSRC communications standard. The Commsignia Onboard Unit also provides support for the latest C-V2X communications standards as well as DSRC. The TONY V2I Package has been fielded initially to the AV Star Transit Van outfitted with Perrone Robotics’ TONY AV kit deployed to JTA. With such a configuration, TONY-based AVs are able to communicate with smart infrastructure to obtain and react to status of traffic lights, intersection conditions, and other smart infrastructure information.
