“One of the Safest Buses in the World”
What if every bus ride came with an invisible co-pilot?
One that can look in every direction simultaneously while driving through busy intersections and urban environments.
One that never gets tired, never looks away, and always sees what’s ahead.
This week in Ohio…Western Reserve Transit Authority, SARTA - Stark Area Regional Transit Authority, NEORide, and the U.S. Department of Transportation showcased exactly that. A bus equipped with Perrone Robotics TONY ADAS Kit demonstrated what happens when advanced driver assistance automation technology, including radar, LiDAR, cameras, and a real-time “brain”, is applied to everyday transit.
Key facts:
- 75% of bus accidents come from collisions.
- A single bus can carry 40–50 people.
- Yet advanced safety features standard in cars still aren’t required in buses.
This all changes when you can drop into any bus and into any vehicle a kit that brings expansive field of view obstacle detection, emergency braking, adaptive cruise, and enhanced vision and perception.
The result? Safer streets, less driver stress, and peace of mind for passengers.
As the news stories below articulate and show, this is not a distant concept. It is being brought to a fleet of buses in Ohio today. Funded through a $1.98M SMART grant, with eyes already on a $MM phase that could scale across many more buses.
It’s a glimpse of a safer, smarter transit future.
Installable and applicable to any transit vehicle today.
