Testimonial on Perrone Robotics’ AV Deployments at JTA
In December of 2020, Perrone Robotics deployed the first autonomous all-electric, ADA-compliant, and FMVSS-compliant transit van (GreenPower EV Star) to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) in Florida. This vehicle was delivered under the AV Test and Learn program at JTA, part of JTA’s broader Ultimate Urban Circulator vision. Subsequently, in June of 2022, Perrone Robotics deployed an autonomous all-electric Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) (Polaris GEM) to JTA. JTA began operating Perrone Robotics’ AVs on public roads in 2021. Beyond the vehicles, a number of innovative additions to the vehicles were developed and provided to JTA in collaboration with the team.
Recently, we asked Nigel Atikinson, JTA’s lead automation engineer, to provide his thoughts on our work together with these vehicles and the operation on public roads.
“I wanted to thank the Perrone team for the past year and a half of collaboration and support on the projects within the Test and Learn Program. The team's dedication has provided significant benefits leading to success of cutting edge projects. Our public street deployment with EV-Star has provided our staff a direct Autonomous shuttle to lunch from our main office and has been a true success. We look forward to continuing to develop the next phase of projects with the support of Perrone's team and expertise.”
