I’ve been fascinated with autonomous vehicles ever since seeing the DARPA Challenges on TV as a kid, and it’s always been my dream to work on them.
I was excited to discover that a robotics company based in my hometown had worked on the challenges, and immediately sought out opportunities to get involved. I joined the team as a high school intern back in 2010, and returned as a full-time engineer after graduating from Virginia Tech in 2016. I’ve been here ever since! It’s amazing to see how much the company has accomplished and grown since 2010, and I’m happy to have been a part of it.
In my spare time: I’m an avid drummer, and spend a lot of time gigging, teaching, and doing studio work. I also enjoy bouldering, and spending time outdoors.
Something “geeky” about me: I am a total coffee geek, and have spent the past couple of years trying to perfect the perfect cold-brew recipe.
I joined Perrone Robotics because I knew of the great work they were doing with Java when I began working at Sun Microsystems in 2006. Seeing MAX in action as part of Tommy Sr. and Tommy Jr. for the DARPA challenges and the demo at JavaOne was very exciting.
When I had the chance to join I jumped on the opportunity, and it’s been a great ride since. I enjoy challenges, blazing new trails, working with Java, and helping to define a new era of real-time autonomous enablement. As our team expands, it’s great to know I’ve been a part of growing organization. We work with the latest technologies and tools, hardware and software, and have actual autonomous cars we test in – where else can you say you’re doing all that?
In my spare time: I write code for fun, as well as articles, blogs and papers about technology, programming, and software architecture. I’m also a runner and fitness nut.
Something “geeky” about me: In High School I won the “Mr. Physics” award – I guess I’m just a math and science geek.
I joined PRI for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing, cross-functional technology and participate in an industry of the future. I look forward to helping PRI build a strong team as we move through an exciting growth period.
In my spare time: I’m a long-time career dancer and dance instructor!
Something “geeky” about me: In my senior year of high school, I won the Right Stuff Award as Shuttle Mission Commander at Space Camp!
